“One Holy Church is to Remain Forever”

The Saint Mark’s Conference concerns the confessional, sacramental, and liturgical life of the Church of the Augsburg Confession.
The Rev. Dr. Edward A. Naumann will speak on The Triumph of the Mystical Meaning of Holy Scripture. Dr. Naumann holds a Master of Arts degree in classics from the University of Edinburgh and also the Master of Arts degree and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in classics from the Catholic University of America. He is a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He served for several years in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and now serves as Pastor of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Children in Brookfield, Illinois. He founded the South Asian Lutheran Mission, a nonprofit which provides confessional Lutheran teaching and education materials.
The Rev. Charles McClean will speak on Canterbury Tales of a Sasse-phile in which he will speak about his experience in the Anglican Church in relation to confessional Lutheranism in general, Hermann Sasse in particular. Pastor McClean is a graduate of Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis and has been pastor of Our Saviour since 2013. Pr. McClean has served parishes in Virginia, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, among other places. His Master of Sacred Theology thesis, Theological Issues at the Colloquy of Montbeliard 1586, was prepared under the supervision of the Rev. Dr. Arthur Carl Piepkorn. Pastor McClean is editor of The Conduct of the Services.
The Rev. Roy Axel Coats will speak on Lutheran Bishops? Archbishop Laurentius Petri on the Office of Bishops. Pastor Coats’s mother was born in Sweden and he has visited his relatives in that country over the years. He is a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and serves as Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Baltimore.

The conference will open with Divine Service at 11:00 AM on Monday and close with Itinerarium about 3:00 PM on Tuesday. A detailed conference schedule will be forthcoming in the near future.
